What's faster: La Paz to Lima by bus (26 hours, I think? Or 10 to Puno and then how fast Lima to Puno?) or La Paz to Santiago? And-or which is cheaper?

We have a plane ticket to Lima from Santiago, but we need to pay $50 to change it. We need to fly home from Lima, and the last place we'll be before we need to jet is La Paz. Flights from La Paz to Santiago or Lima are too expensive for us ($300 and more)

Suggestions?

I remember seeing a poster when I was in Sucre regarding volunteering at an animal sanctuary, near Rurrenabaque somewhere but since can´t find any more details for it ( i made the mistake of thinking that it would be advertise elsewhere and haven´t seen any posters since)

If anyone has the faintest idea what I am talking about do you have the contact details?

Cheers

Hi there, I am looking to find a guy called Alex who put a note up on Loki hostel saying he wanted to rent a flat together with others Unfortunately his number was rubbed off, so i thought he might look here on the forums or someone might know his number so i could give him a call...

Also if anyone is looking for someone to share a flat in la paz, or knows a room free (not in a hostel but a place where people live for a longer period of time), then please be in touch

Thanks very much, Dominic

This is a serious question, I swear.

I love Evo's jackets. Like this one. Or this one.

Any ideas where I can get them in Bolivia? Are they widely available or are they just made for the president? I haven't noticed other bolivian officials wearing them. Oh I'm not in Bolivia yet, so if they're sold in every corner please forgive me for asking.

I believe the patterns are Aguayo or something.

Hi There

After living in Bolivia for a year, I have started a new volunteer project in Santa Cruz - inspired by the great work of Steve at www.volunteersouthamerica.net and dissapointed at the lack of opportunities in this HUGE city compared to La Paz Cochabamba etc I have got together with the city of Santa Cruz Social Services Department to find places that need volunteer help and could use some energy and ideas from foreign travellers. The result is so far the very small blog…

If you have any questions about the Sunday market in Tarabuco I can answer them. I'm currently doing volunteer work near there and am happy to offer any advice. I think its truly a good way to experience the culture of the Northern Chuquisaca and the tejidos are of good quality and even better prices. Just email me continental.drifter@yahoo.com

I have been thinking of volunteering with children for a long time and hope to find a good place. I am very interested to know if anyone have heard of the Amanecer organization in Cochabamba, Bolivia. I am thinking of volunteering for them for 6 months, starting in September. Would be very happy if anybody would share their good or bad experiences from this organization with me.
If you have good experiences from other organizations in Bolivia, let me know!
Does anybody have tips on nice hikes or…

I (Chris, Canuck, guy, 38) and Kim Zielinski (29, Yankee, girl) are doing to Pelechuco-Curvo trek starting next week and we are looking for partners to share expenses. These could include

-- a muleteers and his food (maybe $50)
-- renting a 4x4 to get us out to Pelechuco ($200).

We are both fit and experienced and psyched to do what looks like an amazing trek (a cxouple of 5000+ m passes and enñless views of high mountains). Thsi is wild and remote-- few tour groups go here and no English (and…

My husband and I will be visiting Potosi mines in a few weeks. I've read in the Lonely Planet that maybe it's not such a good idea to visit them (see details below). Could someone please tell me if it's worth the risk going in the mines, how narrow or dangerous are the surroundings? We are in our ealy 30's, relatively fit. I'm more concerned about breathing in some gunk and slipping down some shaft. I don't think I'm paranoid, just cautious. Thank you in advance!

We have two days with one overnight stop to get from La Paz to Puno. The Lonely Planet talks about very cheap bus fares which is fine but we are on tight timescales.

Anyone know of a tour operator on the net or in La Paz itself that could sort out a one way 2 day 1 nighter via Copacabana or Isla del Sol to Puno?

Cheers, Neil
