I know this is far in advance, but I`m trying to get a group together for a 12-14 day trek in Bolivia in June. To do this with an organized tour is ridiculously expensive, but it´s definitely a group trip. I have a decent amount of backcountry experience in Chile and Peru and the USA. I´ll be headed to La Paz at the beginning of June and after to Brazil for the world cup at the end of June.

If anyone is interested we can be in contact and plan the trek together.

Happy travels!

I am planning to make either one or two day trip to Salar de Uyuni.
I am travelling to La Paz; is it better to book this trip from La Paz or via email beforehand?

What is the most convinient way to travel from La Paz to Uyuni?

(I expect that tours start from Uyuni)

Hi all,

I'm currently researching jungle trips in Ecuador and so thought for other people, a trip report from my jungle experience in Bolivia might be helpful. I went on a Pampas tour from Rurrenabaque, booked in La Paz. I jumped on board at the last minute with a girl I met so had to do what she had already booked which was the cheapest option offered by Kanoo.com.

I loved loved loved the tour. We spent most of our time cruising along the river on our canoe or getting out for specific…

Over the summer I took a 3 day salt flat tour for 800 Bolivianos ($115). I wrote up a blog about my expiernce, prices, a checklist and some positives and minuses for the trip and my tour company. Read my blog if you are interested in learning how my tour went:

From the pictures I am seeing of Sajama National Park, it looks like it is an amazing place to visit, yet you hardly hear anything about it on here and there is very little information on the internet concerning this beautiful place.

This looks, to me anyway, like it would be more spectacular to visit, than the salt flats. So far I only found one tour operator, Millenarian Tourism & Travel, with the exception of Tupiza Los Salares out of Tupiza, but I don't think I will have enough time to make…

Some miscellany from my recent visit to Bolivia.

One of my best experiences in Bolivia came courtesy of Urban Rush, who run an abseiling excursion from the top storey of Hotel Presidente in La Paz. For around $20 you can shuffle, walk or run down the side of the hotel, and I couldn't imagine a more thrilling way of whiling away an afternoon in that wretched city. The staff are very professional, the equipment is in good shape, and even the most dedicated coward won't regret doing it. (I'm…

Hi all, In two weeks I will be arriving at Viru Viru Int Airport from Amsterdam/Lima and I want to travel as fast as possible to Samaipata. Who can give advise?

Im traveling to Bolivia in a couple of months from the U.S. ( Mexico passport). Im staring the trip from Lima to Rio de Janeiro... What I am most concerned for is being asked for a yellow fever certificate when entering Bolivia, im flying from Lima to La Paz, according to the consulate website the shot is no longer require (can anyone confirm this). I honestly do not want to pay an arm for this vaccine and I am not too worried about getting yellow fever and secondly I usually get sick right away…
