Hello,

We'll be in Uyuni in a couple of days and wondering what the situationis at the moment.
I heard many travel agencies are shut down during Dec.-Feb. due to the flood.

It would be appreciated if anyone can update the situation.

Thanks

During the period half December - May (roughly) parts of the Salar are likely to be covered with water. It's still possible to do a 3 days / 2 nights trip, to visit the Salar, but with water on the Salar you cannot cross it for hours like you can in the dry season. With water on the Salar you cannot get to Isla Incahuasi / Fish Island either. Today though it was still possible to visit Isla Incahuasi,

Hard to know. I was there earlier this month and there was no water to be seen.

It's reported this morning (26/12) that the Potosi authorities have closed access to the Salar because of heavy rainfall, which makes it dangerous to cross.

You are warned, but I would not be in the least surprised to hear that some operators have cunning plans to avoid the closure.

The Mayor of Uyuni has denied that access to the Salar is closed. He says it's just a warning to be careful.
He is probably the cunning plan of the operators.
