Dodgy La Paz nightspot Vivian's was raided by anti-drugs police this week. Previous raids had been by regular police or the mayor's office, looking for premises open outside licencing hours and little else, and after a few days closed, and presumably a bit of cash changing hands, the club was always allowed to re-open. This time however it looks like it is a bit more serious. According to reports, FELCN (Special Anti-Narcotraffic Force) operatives burst in with guns drawn, searched everyone inside, and detained ten backpackers found to be in possession of cocaine. Vivian herself is now in jail. Presumably there'll be no shortage of evidence for pressing charges once the authorities have had a quick look at Facebook!
On a related note: big police presence in Calacoto & San Miguel this morning, anyone know why? It could be they're looking for somebody (possibly tunabagel), or maybe it's just Evo showing the gringos who's boss, given the present climate?
