There are numerous tour operators that organize tours in San Pedro, I just did this tour a few weeks back and it was fantastic!

It is hard to discern between different operators as I went to numerous tour agencies and they all offer the exact same tour for roughly the same price. Booking ahead isn't necessary as there are tours that leave daily for the Salt flats.

I booked from the tour agency in the central plaza (there is only one) and paid about $150 for a 2N/3D tour that ended in Uyuni. For the return option to San Pedro I believe it was $175. This includes all your meals and basic accommodations.

It's well worth the money. The most important factor is who you go with, if you have a good group (max 6 people), you'll have fun no matter what.

My friends and I are doing a tour like the one you did from San Pedro to Uyuni (and then back again), and I was wondering what the cost is to get over the Bolivian border at Uyuni. Is it the $135 reciprocity fee, or is it less since we'd be crossing on land?
