Family of three looking for some advice. Child age 7 but adventurous. We will be in BA for 3-4 days, then Salta area. Question as to how many days to explore that area.... 3-5 I hear or more. then we would like to visit Potosi and Sucre and uyuni... so I am told I would need to take an overnight train from Arg border to uyuni then get guide to drive us to Sucre and Potosi and then go back toward SP de Atacama but stay a night in villamar.

Anyone have thoughts on this itinerary. We then would spend a few days in SPAtacama and then Calama to Santiago...

we have a total of 15 nights... so tough to divide them.. 3 BA, 3Salta, 6 Bolivia (or can we do this in less) 2 SPA, 1 Santiago.

Should we nix the Bolivia part and spend more time in Salta and then hop over to SP A (missing Bolivia part) then get 2 days in Santiago?

Ideally 4 Ba, 5 Salta, 4 Bolivia, 2 SPA, 2 Santiago- but we have 15 nights... so maybe 3 BA, 3 Salta, 5 Bolivia, 2 SPA, 2 Santiago best...

Your issue is when you get to Uyuni, Potosi and Sucre are the opposite direction to San Pedro.

I just caught a shared taxi from Sucre to Potosi and it was about 2 1/2 hrs. Going to uyuni tomorrow and the bus says 4 - 41/2 hours. Bus from Uyuni to SPA is a long ride also and most take a 3 day salt flat tour to cross the border instead.

Sounds like too much for 15 days IMO.

I spent 5 days in Salta, I think 2 is enough for Santiago, BA maybe 3-4 days. so thats 11 without travel and SPA added in. Plus you will want to fly Calama to Santiago.
