A new route for travellers has been opened in Bolivia, in a shared infraestructure with Peru. The route is said will make the journey from the border with Peru, safer though the railroad.
The route begins in El Alto, goes through Viacha and then the Tiahuanaco site; before arriving to Guaqui (91 k. west of La Paz) on the shores of the Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
Although the train started serving since last july, the train began officially to operate in 23rd december.
The president of Bolivia has said on the opening that it will make it easier for travellers to get through, he also mentioned the several crimes that had happened on that part of the country hoping this will make the trip safer.
Safe travels.
