A blockage is reported today just south of El Alto on the road between La Paz and Oruro.
Drivers of "inter-provincial" transport (buses and trucks between the city of La Paz and other parts of La Paz department) are protesting against increases in the premium for obligatory third-party insurance.
Although this is a matter for the insurance companies, a government delegation has gone to the site of the protest to seek a solution.
There are rumblings of similar action on a broader scale by other transport sectors, but nothing concrete so far.

Further road blocks can not be ruled out in the next two-three days.
It seems that the transport sector is still restless - in essence, they would rather not pay for third-party insurance and be "self-insured" instead.
So if travelling by road make allowances in your schedule for possible delays, and check before setting out. ´Bus terminals usually have the best information.
