Hi there,

I will be next week in Iquique and would like to know how I can travel ((reasonably) comfortable) from Iquique to Uyuni for the salt fields. I believe there is a bus service between iquique/border and Oruro. Has anybody done this and how long does the journey take.
Once in Oruro what are my options (train/ private tour/ bus) and the level of comfort/price of each

Thanks

probably easier if you take a bus to san Pedro de Atacama (via Calama) and take fromthere the Salt lake tour to Uyuni.

Otherwiae - daily busses Iquique to Oruro - from Oruro several busses to Uyuni in the evening (dirt cheap - no comfort - but hey it's Bolivia, do not expect luxury) - and trains four times a week (more comfortable)

Like the above poster said.
I went in the opposite direction. Started the tour from Uyuni and finished at the border. Then I took colectivo to San Pedro de Atacama. From there I continued to Arica via Iquique by bus.
