We're in Tupiza at the moment. Tomorrow we're going to start our 4 salar de uyuni tour.
We will end the trip in Uyuni. From Uyuni we want to go to Potosi.
What are our best options (bus, train, minibus) to get to Potosi? We just spend 18 hours in a local bus from La Paz to Tupiza. I hear so many different travel times for the road between Uyuni and Potosi (from 3 to 7 hours).
What's our best (still not expensive (taxi) option? Thanks!

Tim

My guess is closer to 7 hrs by bus. 3 hrs would be quite a rally.
As you might have noticed already, bus travel is pretty slow in Bolivia and the Andean region in general.

The road between Uyuni and Potosí is now paved. It's easy to go by bus. It is about 4-4½ hours.

I did this from Potosí to Uyuni less than a month ago.

The new paved road from Uyuni to Potosi opened last year, so the old 7-8hr times are out of date (except when there are road blocks....). #2's journey times sound about right, though I've no doubt a bus driver dreaming he's taking part in the Dakar Rally could do it quicker! Bus is the main option, there may also be express shared taxis now the journey is quicker.

The bus from Potosi to Uyuni took me 4 1/2 hours this morning. The sealed road is good but a bit windy in patches.

Contrary to local guides, it is easy to take bus from Uyuni to Potosi. Walk to bus station and buy ticket; about 3 hour ride to Potosi.

Same for leaving Potosi--you do NOT have to take the expensive over nite bus.
