Hi all, who could advise me on booking flights to Santa Cruz Bolivia from Lima.

  1. Where to book and would do you think should be a reasonable price? (any urls/email address for sites - booking agencies etc?)
  2. Are return tickets cheaper than singles?

All advice is very much appreciated!

If you are coming from Europe why not fly into Santa Cruz? I undersatand that ALL flights to La Paz go to Santa Cruz for refueling. I met many Europeans in Bolivia in May & June who purposely flew into Santa Cruz so they could acclimate to elevation by taking buses to Sucre, Potosi, Uyuni, then La Paz. They told me it was cheaper to fly directly to Santa Cruz from Europe than to Lima--except for the Chezk girl who got a deal --Paris to lima for 200 euros.

Not as good but I got a good deal for Lima too :)
Air Europe: worse reviews and more expensive.

To acclimatize I want to skip La Paz and fly to Santa Cruz instead and start my trip there. I don't wanna risk getting sick. Especially being a solo traveler

Would you happen to know how to get my hands on a flight schedule from TAM? It is not available on their website and I am looking around what the options are for part 2 of my trip!

LAN Peru flies this route on a daily basis.

Boliviana de Aviación has also direct flights from Europe to Santa Cruz, just in case you were interested.

Well, I'm seeing it on their web... What country's version of the web of TAM are you using?

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I was looking at the website: tam.bo since they are very cheap.
But they do not run a schedule, since they are not really aiming for tourists, but do take them on board.
It would make life easier though to have a timetable and routemap...

All the flights do not run daily and not all combinations are possible.

My flight to Lima is already booked by the way. So just need to book the last leg and make a travel itinery from there :)
Need to end up in Lima eventually, and spend a few days with family in CCB.

TAM do not fly any international flights ONLY within Bolivia so they do not operate from/to Lima.

There are schedules available that are provided to agencies but to be honest we take little notice of them because they are rarely kept to. I have access to the TAM booking system and we simply look up the required dates and routes as and when we need them and then wait for TAM to call teh night before the flights to reschedule it all anyway then we have to run around trying to find our customers to tell them everything has changed.

One possible way to go from Lima to Santa crux woudl be using a star peru and amaszonas combination (they are partners so can be bought as a single passage) but it would probably involve several changes LIMA - CUSCO-LA PAZ-SANTA CRUZ and that woudl end up costing about the same as taca or lan. Typicalk flight prices for Lima to La Paz are about 600usd , so for santacruz you often just addd 100usd on top of that . Not cheap. From time to time there are flights for around 400usd but these seem less and less common nowdays.

@Jose_NL: Sorry, I don't know why but I thought you were talking about the Brazilian TAM. I don't have an updated schedule and/or route map of TAM bolivia, sorry. However, you can look on their web (if it's working properly) if they fly a route on a specific date; just in case it's any useful for you although I think you are already aware of it.
