Copacabana/Isla del Sol at New Year

Copa is a pretty tranquillo place, not the most happeing place to be for new year, but i think id rather stay there than head to Isla Del sol, or you could just catch the bus to La Paz for the nite only 3 hours from Copa, hotel mirador is quite good is about 5usd per person very clean

Found Copacabana to be picturesque but fairly dull...some nice bars/restaurants and of course the islands, but the town itself - not much going on. La Paz I'm guessing would be more fun nightlife-wise - maybe catch some live music or something instead of the usual video clips.

On Copacabana...we stayed in an awful hostel called Kota Kahuaña (just up the street from El Mirador, the pink place near the lake previously mentioned)...Kota Kahuaña NOT RECOMMENDED at all - it's very cheap ($2US) but the owner is totally creepy, was always loitering around the shared bathrooms and we once found him peeking through the window of our room in the morning (before check-out). As we were leaving, he also tried to make us pay for an extra night after we'd already paid the total in advance. When we refused to pay extra he grabbed me and tried to stop me from leaving the room and it all ended in a lot of shouting and us promptly jumping on a bus. Definitely not a good hostel for single women travellers.

So, in summary, if staying in Copacabana, maybe shell out a bit extra for some privacy and security!
