cool thing to do in la paz

did anyone hear any more info about the stabbing - was it true and did a gringo die or was it just rumour/illusion?

Not seen anything in the press, although if the police are taking backhanders to allow the place to stay open, it may not have been widely publicised if it did happen.

I think the best curry in bolivia is at Petes Place in Sorata... had the veggie curry only the other night and it had a great taste and only 25bs

Sorata gets a bad press and yet its one of the best little towns to visit in Bolivia with great food at petes and good accommodation at Las piedras hostel run by petra. Also the weather there up until last night has been superb, hot and sunny and perfect mountain weather. It snowed last night but it snowed all across the altiplano last night

If you take a minibus to sorata from la paz you can get there in 3 hours nowadays.

Unfortunately Sorata is full of dodgy pot-smoking lefties like superhuey70 and some bloke who claims not to be Francis Rossi.

PS The curry in Oliver's Travels tastes like dog sick and the portions are tiny, like the owner's willy.

Standanista is true on both counts re olivers travels. Also Mr Fahrenheit has recently just came out of the closet and admitted he is norwegian. I say fair play to him, it must be so hard to admit this, but with the strength of the friends around him, he managed to take that bold step and do it. BEHAG....

I heard there is a Status Quo gig taking place in Sorata next weekend 4th-5th August. Not sure yet where I can get tickets. Think Discolandia in the prado, la paz , might have tickets.

OLIVERS TRAVELS PUB - WARNING - DO NOT GO THERE!
This had to be the WORST place I have ever been to, and I have travelled all over the world.
"Oliver", the dodgy pub owner was a rude, insulting drunk. We were a group of 20 people. We all ordered 2 course meals, and drinks but after we had paid he came and told us we had given him a sh!t tip, and he asked for more! This was after waiting for over an hour for our meals, having the desert come out before the main course. Getting 4 of our meals wrong! He is a religious and racist bigot - just take a look at his flyers! He asked out tour leader if we were Mormons because he said we were not drinking enough alcohol, he also stated if we were Jehovah's Witnesses, we would be thrown out immediately as he couldn't stand them!
The service was atrocious, and the food mediocre. DO NOT GO HERE!
