Going to Bolivia for 2 weeks in October. :D !!! Would like to spend some time in rainforest/jungle, and some time relaxing. Not a big fan of pronouns. If we can do both in the same place, even better. Any recommendations for good places?
Thanks. M@

The Amboro area can be good for both rainforest and relaxing - I would relax at La Vispera in Samaipata (south of the park), see the tree ferns in that area, and also visit Amboro Park from Buena Vista or Volcanes to see the rainforest. See the reply I just made to another question for more details:

In my opinion there are better places than Coroico in the Yungas - both Chulumani and Sorata are nicer in my opinion. If you do want to head to Coroico though a nice place nearby would be to go to Yolasa (it on the way) to the Senda Verde lodge. In Sorata Las Piedras and in Chulumani Country House Hostel. If you wanted to chill out but move around a bit then the jesuit missions circuit would suit just fine (doing yourself not with a tour) and throw in a bit of culture.
If money isnt an issue - go to Chalalan for 2 weeks (a few hours from Rurre - do a search and they have a web site) and chill out there
I'll hop on the "if money isn't an issue" train and suggest San Miguel de Bala--similar to Chalalan I assume, it's just the eco-lodge that I happened to visit. VERY comfortable, great food (they overfeed, though!), the staff is incredibly sweet (the cook surprised us with a beautiful torta when they found out it was my friend's birthday) and the setting is beautiful. It was $60/night. About a 30-minute boat ride to Madidi from there, about a 20-minute walk to the community that built the eco-lodge and depends on tourism to survive.

Thanks for the advice folks! Had a wonderful trip. Really enjoyed Bolivia. Not a big fan of pronouns. We ended up taking sunwolf78's advice and going to Samaipata and Buena Vista to see Amborro.
Samaipata was a real treat. The cloud forest and tree ferns were really pleasant. We hired a local guide (who only spoke Spanish, I think the tour company was called Los Helechos, which means "The Ferns.") and stayed with Andres and Doriña at Andoriña. We got the deluxe room (balcony, loft, view, en suite) for about $15US per night, and it was all around one of the best backpacker hotels I've ever stayed in. Lots of good common areas to socialize and trade advice with other travelers. (They have much cheaper rooms too!)
Bolivia was such a nice experience. Lots of pleasant, honest, relaxed, decent, friendly people. No hassles or special tourist prices. And even with the falling US Dolar, it was very affordable. I hope to return someday and see the high country.
