My supply of US dollars to exchange at a reasonable rate is getting a little low, so I went to the ATM to top up at the hopeless official rate using my Australian Visa debit card. No matter what combination of buttons I push, I always end up at a message say "You Have Entered an Invalid Amount" even if I only select 100 pesos. Am I doing something stupid, or is there a general issue with ATMs? I can use the same card to pay for things in restaurants, so the card isn't broken.

I will be travelling to Argentina shortly and had planned to change sterling to dollars before leaving the UK (in order to change into pesos once in Buenos Aires).
I have recently heard that this isn't actually necessary as it is easy to change sterling to pesos on the blue market at a good rate.
Could anyone in Buenos Aires confirm that this is in fact the case.

I have noticed that the Mercado Azul Rate for changing USD to Argentine Peso is quite a bit better than the official excange rate. Officially Azul rates are not available for foreigners but I have heard there are ways around that. Has someone used it and how does it work? Thanks.
