Does anyone know of ships/ferries or serries of ferries that connect Ushuaia to Puerto Natales in July/August? My bike is in Ushuaia and I have to pick it up and head north and I can't wait. The roads will presumably be closed.

There are no ferries from Ushuaia. Roads are passable year round except maybe for 1 or 2 days during a snow storm

There is undoubtedly greater danger in riding a motorcycle on snowy and/or icy roads. It might be a better idea to put the bike in the back of a pick-up truck and pay someone to take you at least to the Straits of Magellan.

Thanks, Michael and Mister Steve. A truck seems a sensible option. I know this is a really dumb time to be travelling. However OLD MEN CAN'T WAIT and I have promised to be at my daughter's in Duchess County, NY, or New Year. I rode down from Mexico over the mountains and Alto Plano blog at www.simongandolfi.com
I intend heading north along the coast after visiting the Jesuit missions in Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia - on into Brazil, Venezuela. Eat shrimp and write a book dedicated to the masseurs and osteopaths who keep my back functioning!
