Hello there!

My friend and I are planning our Argentinian adventure and need some advice. We are spending a few days in Mendoza, then would like to head to El Calafate to see the glacier, then head back to Buenos Aires. We only have a week and are trying to cram in as much as physically/financially possible :) Here are our questions:

  1. Is there a cheaper way to get from Mendoza to El Calafate besides flying? A bus?
  2. How many days do we need to see the glacier? Is 2 enough?
  3. Is flying the best way to get back to Buenos Aires from El Calafate? Flight? Bus?

Any experienced advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  1. A bus may be cheaper. But clocking in at a over 2 days - it probably isn't the best option with a week.

  2. You really only need a few hours to wander the boardwalks. A day is needed if you want to do an ice trek. If you are flying ALL that way to see the glacier, then I would highly recommend heading to El Chalten and doing some day hikes there (heck you can do an ice trek on the Viedma glacier there too).

  3. If time is short, fly.
