hheheee I'm afraid that I' more like SanchoP even being a local, I don't have dinner at 10PM
me voy a dormir con las gallinas, jajajaaa!!
anyway, how knows? I know the meeting place, so maybe some day, thanks.
yes, original members that know me are Marta, Jose Luis and Cynthia :-)
we used to meet at 5pm at that time, but it was not a popular hour so we remained the same for several months.
by the time of ABBA songs there was another girl, but unlucky I don't remember her name.
the pictionary day was specially funny because the cards were in spanish, and sometimes we had no idea the English word, or the drawer knew the word, and the rest didn't hehehehehehehe

An interesting thread. I emailed the group and received a nice response from Marta, so I am looking forward to meeting up tomorrow.
As far as BA natives being arrrogant, I don't speak Spanish so no one has had the opportunity to insult me as yet ;-) I only assume that people are people everywhere in the world, so that there isn a fair sample of all types in every country.
I just arrived in BA from France, where it is daylight until after 9:30pm, so dinner at 10 is not too offputting. In Spain the retaurants are empty until after 11. I just hope the jetlag doesn't kick in too soon.

Thank you, la vache. You're right. There are all kinds of people in all places.
You shouldn't have too many issues with jetlag. Going west is like staying awake for a few extra hours. Not too hard to do. Going east is always more difficult.

I attended yesterday's gettogether and had a great evening. In the end it was a couple from London, a couple from Melbourne, and myself solo, along with 10 or 11 locals. Evening got started around 7:30 with people coming in over the next hour. A little after 10 we walked a few blocks to a Chinese restaurant where the conversation continued (seems portenos don't use chopsticks). We broke up a little after midnight.
I definitely recommend any anglophone visitors to BA try to come to one of these. A great way to meet a lot of nice people.

Ooh, when I was there, we ended up at the Chinese restaurant as well. Just as an aside, it was the first time I had heard a native Chinese person speak Spanish. While I can't cound how many times I've heard a native Chinese speaking English (and that includes my cousin's wife), I had never heard Spanish from the lips of a Chinese person. Very interesting to hear this.

Hi,
I am an Argentinenan living in New York and teaching Spanish to the people of this great city. Recently, and since I will be visiting my country pretty soon, I sent an e/mail to the "Grupo de Inglés" in Buenos Aires. Marta (I believe she is the group moderator), answered my mail with an invitation to join them on 6/29. Her response was very nice and prompt....and I will be there.Text
