And you can tell all of these by sight, right?
I stand correct, you sir, are an idiot.

I wouldn't expect a native asian to recognize the difference between a argentine spanish and say, portuguese, it's prolly all giberish to him. i wouldn't take offense if he said so.
But i wouldn't expect him to take offense either if i couldn't tell the difference between a korean and a chinese, considering i spend 20 minutes every two months and 99% of what he speaks while i'm with him is in spanish. And i probably spend more time with asians that the average argentine.

You implicitly ask him to put himself in your shoes, yet i don't see you doing so.

Chinese and Koreans generally taller and slimmer. Chinese language very different in sound and intonation than Japanese. Korean sounds like a hybrid of the two. Language characters, can't comment since I'm an idiot and not schooled in that area. Ever smell a just off the plane or non-assimilated Korean? IMO, Japanese have minimal body odor compared to he other two cultures. Japanese seem to be generally cleaner and don't spit and burp like a just of the plane or non-assimilated Chinese. Back to the physical, if I observe from a distance, I can eventually guess what culture they are from with very good accuracy but this is hard to explain (being Asian and an idiot and all...).

Ask your white argentino collegues and I bet they would trust doing business more with a Nikkei than a Chinese descendant. Also ask who they respect more in assimilating within their Homeland, Japanese of Koreans?

In regards to Argentinos and Chilenos, it is interesting how the Argentinos and Chilenos are able to identify each other by appearance 80% of the time in Mendoza. Have heard more than once "cara de una chilena". As a non-white gringo, I can say the nose (if not operated on like many have in BA) is a distinguishing mark - Chileans tend to have smaller, less prominent noses naturally.

Pot Kettle Black back to you.

Also to make you feel better as an argentino, IME, argentinos in GENERAL appear to be more knowledgeable about these differences than the average chileno.

Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. And btw, the way 99% of the times argentines recognize themselves among people from other country is either through sight

a)Clothes or some other visible item (handbag or something)
b)Haircut

Other than that, we could pass for an italian, uruguayan, portuguese, spanish or french.

Pot.Kettle.Black.

I know very well how the average argentino, chileno, peruano see Asian people even the ones that have assimilated and been there for generations as I live "there" and have traveled around. I even sometimes turn encountered ignorance (8 out of 10 times innocent) to my advantage but have at other times also seen the ugly side when it approaches prejudice and racism.

But back to the subject, I do hope the OP finds a grocery store.

PS. I do hope future exchanges with you, LuZbelito, do not devolve into name calling.

Exactly my point. Post #2 was only puting the spotlight on our ignorance. I see no prejudice nor a hint or racism in that post.
Can't say the same about post #3, and that's why i reacted.

Quote

That might be the problem then. I don't think esteros is "average". He is 10x more helpful and he shows that day after day after day on this branch.

I'm pretty sure our next conversation won't involve name calling.
You take care.

No Capo,

Salute,

Mahatma Guille
