Are there still internet cafes throughout Argentina? I hate carrying a computer while traveling.

Yup. But not as prominent. Most hostels will have a computer to use (but these are going by the wayside as well with mobile phones using wifi now).

If your not a fan of carrying a computer perhaps grab an ipad or similar....that way you can still do all you need....

Trent, by the way, when were you last in Argentina?

Most internet cafes have closed down. It is not easy to find one nowadays.

I would disagree; it is not hard to find an Internet cafe in Buenos Aires, but they are not as ubiquitous as several years ago. The easy availability of free WiFi and tablets and smartphones makes it easier to stay connected. You will probably be able to find a place to use a computer with Internet near where you are staying, and can certainly become a regular user at that location, but if you just want to pop into one while walking down the street, that will be harder to find.

As for places outside of Buenos Aires, it is probably a lot harder. Hostels tend to have a computer, but often the speed and quality leaves much to be desired. It depends on what you want to do on the computer and how often you need access. I second the advice of bringing a tablet or smartphone for traveling. It is much more convenient to have your own device.

I was in Argentina last year. I didn't see any in Buenos Aires (but they are probably around if you seek them out). I find that a lot of hostels/hotels are now getting rid of computers as more and more people have smartphones/ipads that can connect to wifi.

Connection speed isn't too great. The further you get away from BA the worse it will likely get.

Hi, Trent. I guess I have to bite the bullet and get some sort of device. I like not having to carry much. I am used to the connections in Kathmandu, so they cannot be worse!

Thanks for your response.
