Is Aerolineas Argentinas usually on-time for their departures and arrivals?

I will be flying Asuncion (Paraguay) to Buenos Aires EZE on AA to connect to another international fight in EZE which departs 8pm. Would 5 hrs be enough?

Was hoping to make a same day connection instead of getting out of the airport then back the next day.

Usually, how long does it take to clear immigration at EZE? I will arrive EZE in the afternoon.

Thanks

There is probably no carved-in-stone rule about this.

Clearing immigration, get your luggage, customs and getting to maybe the other terminal will be less than an hour if there is nothing exceptional.
It is always funny to see people talking about Aerolineas as if they are flying all the time with this company for years like "thoro" or "carlos69". Aerolineas Argentinas has changed the management about 9 months ago and is much more reliable at this moment. Obviously there can be delays, due to the airline or due to other problems like radars not working or air control problems which is actually not only a problem of Argentina but of Brasil too, despite Carlos69 don´t want to hear it. At least in the past 9 months, AR is usually on time, not like about a year ago where cancellations and delays were indeed frequent. AR since 1991 has changed the managment several times and during some periods it was very badly managed with a lot of problems especially with Iberia and Marsans, 2 spanish companies which could not deal with the unions. Now AR is managed by the government and the unions seem to have an agreement. 2 weeks ago there was a strike on LAN and AR carried the stranded passengers.

Me. relatives, colegues and friends travel all the time with AR since 25 years, sometimes not because we want to do but because it is or was the only option. This company has been the best in SA at one time and there is no reason why it couyld not be a reliable company again.

I seriously doubt that there is any other person on this forum which had taken more flights with Aerolineas Argentinas over a period of 27 years than me.

AR precisely was in the worst desaster when it was managed by private companies and is working much better now. If they can maintain it in the future or not, well lets see. They might privatise AR again but a country like Argentina needs a reliable carrier and if the private companies cannot assure it, the government must do it, in Argentina or any other country of the world.

I'll readily admit I haven't used them as much as nahuel ( hi tiger!) and really only for international flights. We've probably used them on 5-6 occasions over the past few years add another couple of trips by immediate family members. My sister -in law used them as late as September, she was late. On every occasion we have used them, they have been late. No, hang on my mother used them about three years ago and I think they were on time on the outward journey. We have Argentino friends who live now in Australia. They used them earlier this year.... late again. In fact they've sworn that they'll only be using the Qantas Sydney- BsAs service in future despite the higher cost. Brazilian friends all report the same. As, like them, the bulk of our flights with Aerolineas have been trans- pacific, Brazilian air traffic control issues have had no bearing on the delay.

I'm only relating personal experience. Maybe we have been terribly unlucky. Maybe the rude, arrogant and thoroughly disorganised staff I've had contact with are just a tiny minority of an otherwise wonderfully efficient and customer focused organisation. I wish that were the case. I have no ideological issues with Aerolineas being nationialised and due to limited range of carrier options on the routes we most regularly take I have a vested interest in it being a good and reliable service. Alas to date that has not been my experience and we only fly with Aerolineas on the basis of cost availability. I really hope they do improve.

BTW LAN aren't much of an improvement. You trade (relative) efficiency for dishonesty and in my wife's experience the prospect of outright racism.

Well Carlos I personally had a very bad experience with LAN too at the airport in Ushuaia.
Maybe you have been unlucky with AR to travel over periods where this company was in a real desaster. The only thing I know, that it is overall much better now which does not mean that they have good service and no delays. I live in Ushuaia and we depend 100% on flights and you always worry about how does the airlines work. When AR was taken over by the government, there were only 2 posibilities. To close it or to nationalize it. If they would have closed it, with 85% of all scheduled flights managed by Aerolineas it would have been much more expensive, than the money the government is spending actually and the company is working pretty well at this moment.

Well my friend, I am glad to hear that, however all that suggests that they have put their efforts into improving domestic services. That makes sense politically, I'll wager far more Argentinos fly on internal than international routes. I can't say I've noticed much improvement in their international service. Whether it's the inevitable delays, the not infrequent cancellations, the misrouting of luggage, or what passes for customer service, it seems pretty much the same.

I cannot talk about the international services of AR as I usually try to use other companies except 3 times for flying to Europe, once because I got the tickets for free and twice because it was much cheaper than others. Internationally Aerolineas cannot compete well at the present. In the first place due to all the mess in the past and 2nd, because they have no partners. Most airlines today have been joining inbig alliances to be able to

manage the costs. AR has been managed most of the time by spanish companies in the past and does not have a good organization now that they are alone.
How are the flights working in Brasil actually Carlos and which companies exists?
