Helo,

We have been informed that it would be roughly $200 return each for flights to Iguazu falls and the bus takes 17-18 hours, and as we only have 12 days I think the bus is ruled out, what is the train service like?

Thanks

U$1.50/mile (equivalent)?
Where are you accustomed to the fares that $200RT seems excessive? (In the US itself, U$10/mile is considered a cheap flight.)

Sky Scanner - BA to Iguazu

300 USD is the cheapest I found return to Iguazu from BA. That was for a random date in Nov.

There is no train.

The bus is 17-18 Hours. And costs 145USD one way (at the official rate - obviously much cheaper at the blu dolar rate).

The flight might seem expensive - but Argentina seem to charge excessively for airfares for foreigners in their country.

When you have LCC frequently selling trips for 10-15 quid, then it is rather cheap and you can get return fares for that. Same in Aust. The issue is that Argentina really only has two airlines - Aerolineas Argentinas and LAN.

Unfortunately, the Argentina Government places a pretty hefty levy (lets call it a gringo tax) for foreigners taking flights in the country - hence why one way fares are closer to 200USD.
