We are travelling through South America at the moment and planning to try to fly from BA over to India in March.
I know we need to apply for Indian visas prior to flying and want to know if anyone has any information or first hand experience of applying for a visa at the Indian embassy in BA?
Specifically I want to try to find out if this is definitely possible to do and how long it is estimated to take.

Imposssible to answer not knowing your nationality or your country of residence.
Visa requirements, processing time and fees differ considerably depending on your nationality.
You need to check it all by yourself.

I am sorry I forgot to include our nationality in my original post. We are British and reside in England.
I have, of course, tried to find out this information myself but have had no response to emails I have sent to the Indian Embassy in Buenos Aires and I cannot find any information on processing times on their website or elsewhere on the internet. That is why I am asking if anyone has any firsthand experience or knowledge on the subject.

Your question is a little bit too specific, ie. not applying from your country. Anyway, for Indian visa it doesn't make it impossible like it is in the case of Pakistan. You may count a longer processing time and higher fee, which as I know for Brits is already much higher than most other European nationalities.
Have you applied before? The visa form contains a number of "strange" questions, and sometimes very detailed, but with those they are mainly focusing on applicants from neighbouring countries (Pakistan).
