Hi,

I'm off to Argentina for 2 and a half weeks over the new year and am trying to work out how to get from Buenos Aires to Torre del Pain and am struggling to find an answers! I am trying to keep costs down so looking for cheaper alternatives. I have found a flight down to Rio Gallagos and was then hoping to get a bus over to Puerto Natales, and from there pick up local transport to hike either the Paine Circuit or W. However, i cannot figure out how to get from Rio Gallagos to Puerto Natales and was hoping someone might be able to help?

Lots of websites tell me there are buses, but I've tried to check times on plataforma10 and no routes exist, which their helpdesk have confirmed. Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you.
Sara

Puerto Natales is due west of Rio Gallegos but if you want to do it by bus you will find it easier to do Rio Gallegos to Punta Arenas then Punta Arenas to Puerto Natales, even though it is about a 150km detour south as Punta Arenas is a much bigger town than either Rio Gallegos or Puerto Natales. Your problems finding services on plataforma10 may be because Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales are in Chile not Argentina, have a look at Bus Sur www.bussur.com By the way it is Torres del Paine national park.

Hi Sara,

When are you going to Patagonia? I am a solo female traveler and would love any tips you might have on info you have found. I will be there most likely in mid March for 2 weeks more or less.

thanks

Not sure of your dates at all. But randomly plugged in dates around that time. I found flights to El Calafate cheaper than Rio Gallegos. Its got a direct bus to Puerto Natales every morning thats considerably less than RIo Gallegos. It also has a pretty awesome glacier nearby to check out and not to mention Los Glaciares NP near El Chalten is just as good as TDP.

Hi,

I have ended up changing our flights to go to El Calafate as suggested. There is a flight that leaves at 8.45 in the morning and gets in around lunchtime. The hostel has been brilliant - America del Sur - and have helped book airport transfers, a day trip to Perito Mereno and travel on to Puerto Natales so would definitely suggest doing this. Still working out the next bit, but it looks relatively straight forward.

Hope that helps.
