Hi all

I'm looking at a 2-month trip centred around Buenos Aires for Dec 07 / Jan 08. Hoping to see quite a lot of Argentina and some of southern Brazil and Uruguay too.

I'm looking for suggestions for somewhere to base ourselves over Christmas and maybe New Year too. The ideal would be somewhere on the coast with a beach, but we're open to suggestions. We would listen to ideas for both busy places and not so busy places. Would hope to avoid a tourist trap though (would Punta del Este in Uruguay qualify as one of these at this time?)

About us: we're brits and we (my wife and I) will both be 30 by the time we make this trip.

Argentina´s beaches are located 400 kms from Buenos Aires. Beaches in Uruguay are better.

for the beach i would pick uruguay rather than argentina, there are about the same distance from buenos aires and i find them nicer
