Go to Lavalle and Florida (just for pedestrian, so imagine), there's a cafe, "City Corner". Take seat there and watch the people.
I worked in that building, first floor, my boss was the City Corner's owner. That was... ups, 20 years ago... it's crowdier now.

I used to watch people going along those streets and, of course, in different moments of the day I had great opportunities to see something interesting, to recognize the "characters" of the area, and I have many memories.
"characters" are not the same now, of course.

I don't like City Corner be-cau-se I worked for them, hahahaaaa, but as you won't have the possibility of going upstairs, I admit that going into the cafe is your best choice.

  1. Feria de Mataderos, very nice and cheap stuff for bargaining.
    2. If you really want a "hole in the wall" restaurant, definetely check out El San Juanino, its in Recoleta, 1515 Posadas. Great Locro *an indigenous/gaucho stew from el Cuyo! Definetely nice, small, great atmosphere and probably the cheapest restaurant in Recoleta.
