Hi friends of Lonely Planet!
I've been doing some forum searching and haven't found some specific advice on some things so I've decided to make a post.
Traveling solo. 25 yr old male.
Trip to Argentina: December 24 - January 7th roundtrip.
Arrive December 25t, 5pm in Buenos Aires.
Depart January 7th, 8am back to home.
I'm keen on seeing at least 3 spots while here, but will make do with 2 destinations if it's necessary: Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Southern Patagonia (specifically El Chetlan / El Calafete)
So a few questions:
- Is Buenos Aires worth staying in for New Years? I've found flights to other cities on new years day for cheap so I'm willing to suck it up and lose out on an epic night in Buenos Aires to save money.
- Can you do El Chetlan / El Calafete in 4 or 5 days and it be awesome? - I'm a moderate hiker. Not looking to do camping with tents but more than willing to slumming it up in hostels.
- Thoughts on Cordoba for New Years? Is it worth going to? Are the Iguazu Falls a lot like Niagra Falls in Canada? If so - is it worth skipping out on.
I've traveled to Thailand and was able to make excursion decisions on location thanks to their guides and robust touring advice spots at every corner. Is it prudent for me to go to Chetlan / El Calafete and get a hostel and see what they have to offer? OR am I better off making decisions now on what to do and will it help me save money?
What i'm thinking right now...
