Palenque to Campeche Trip?

We are planning a trip to Mexico in December and at one point we have to get from Palenque to Campeche. I know there is a bus from Palenque to Campeche, but we were wondering: would it be worth it to get a driver/guide that not only transports us to Campeche but also guides is through the area and shows us the regio? If so: what would be the best way to book such a thing?

I have driven that route 3 times, so if you like to see jungle, farmland and lots of Banana Plantations then hire a driver, can not imagine what that might cost but the ADO bus takes a little over 5 hours and costs 249 pesos which is about $12.00 USD.....Save you money for the Yucatan for a driver to take you to multiple Maya ruins.......enjoy

Agreed. Unless you want to visit some remote place, for example: Calakmul or Palizada on the way, no need for a car and driver.
