Oaxaca: Thorntree Meeting - May 8th

I have been talking to some of the regular posters here in Oaxaca. We would like to get together and meet the persons behind the TT-handles.

Aw, man. What about us working schlubs? My classes start at 4 and end at 8. Any plans for an after-party?

As I read it, there's no "end" to this TT gathering. Can you suggest a place to meet at 8 p.m. ? We might be "sick of" the cafe at Teatro Macedonia by then?

The Thorn Tree is a useful bulletin board, but as many of us saw last year, a lot was written about Oaxaca by people who weren't here. I don't pay as much attention to the Lonely Board as I might because

1) Lonely Planet authors rarely hang out here to contribute or learn
2) Posts are buried
3) There are a lot of crank messages and people looking to badmouth mexico and fight with other members. Who needs that?

I hope that some folks at T2 are thinking about bringing this board into the web 2.0 age.

just to get this thread closer to the top again for those with "last reply at the top"-setting. Hope I can make it (at least for a bit) but might have work complications as well.

Is this a first for Oaxaca? How about in other Mexican towns?

Gb; We could have a TTMB convivio in or close to Pátzcuaro sometime, perhaps in mid Summer. August, maybe?

Sorry, I think my question might not have been completely clear. I wasn´t proposing another location, I was asking if this has been done in other parts of Mexico in the past? Does anybody know?

But I am sure there are more TT regulars in the centre of the country than in the South-East, and Patzcuaro is probably a good location for some of you to meet up?

Sorry I missed this opportunity, I have met Sara before and dear Geriande of course, but never got a real life look at the rest of ya. Looks like I am in Baja until July 1st. and than most likly back to Oaxaca for the summer. Anyway, wish I could be sitting in on this one, hope you are having a great little get togeather, and maybe you will be doing this again and than I can join in.

In case those who couldn´t make are wondering:

A small diverse group of interesting and interested TT'ers met in person in Oaxaca yesterday afternoon. It was interesting meeting a few of the real people behind the TT handles.

At least in principal there seemed an interest to repeat this someday in the future.
