Mexico Airfare help

We are trying to get to Morelia this summer, and the fare now seems to be climbing from San francisco to $650 roundtrip./ The fare to Mexico City is about $470 now. Is it better to spend a day or two in Mexico city, then bus it to Morelia? How much does bus cost?? Thanks.

Its around 300-400 pesos I think. Takes about 3.5-4 hours.

I don't know if this will do you any good whatsoever, but you might want to research flights from SF to Monterrey, thence to Morelia.

By the way, one positive aspect of flying into Mx City, then bussing to Morelia would be that you'd actually be in Morelia. The airport there is out in the middle of nowhere.

Depends on if you want to spend a day or two in Mexico City. If your goal is to get to Morelia, I don't think the little bit you would save by going through MC is worth the trouble.

More like 5 hrs, MC to Morelia, and that's on ETN, which will run about 500 pesos, if I recall. Factor in the cost of a cab from the MC Airport to the Terminal Poniente, and it's considerably more. Perhaps there is a bus from the Airport to Morelia now.
