Is it safe to walk along the Cancun beach at night?

I am going to be in Cancun later this month for my sister's wedding. I am staying at a resort (at km 13.5) that is a 20-minute walk along the beach from the wedding resort (at km 11.5). Is it relatively safe for a woman to walk alone on the beach at night? One party will be ending at 9pm, so I would walk back around that time. The wedding itself will end around midnight or so (or perhaps sooner).

Personally I wouldn't do it - yes, there is a slight risk of crime but also what happens if you trip in the dark and there's no-one around to help? Or a rogue wave gets you? Or a stray dog? Get a taxi for a few bucks is my advice.

It sounds like a very bad idea, whether Cancun or Miami or San Diego.

No don't do it. Who knows who is out on the beach at night. Catch the bus from one hotel to another as they are cheap and run 24/7 in the Cancun hotel Zone. Taxies are cheep when you take them from where they are standing still but flagged down are cheaper. The beach is lovely at night but don't go there alone.

Now that we established walking alone on the beach at night is a bad idea, what about on the sidewalk (rpad?) in front of the resorts?

I have walked around at night in the touristu parts of Oaxaca city and San Cristobal in Chiapas and felt fine.. but is Cancun more dangerous?

buses run 24/7 cost only 10 pesos and are very! frequent so you wait for only about 2-3 minutes..they stop basically at every 3rd hotel so best option.
