Booking bus ticket ahead of time?

Country forums / Mexico / Mexico

Anyone ever used this website to book bus ticket? Will such purchase from online work when I arrive at the bus station? (https://www.ticketbus.com.mx/ticketbus/eng/index.jsp)

I'm planning to leave Merida for Palenque on March 10, after visiting Uxmal, via an overnight bus, and one of my friend said it might be difficult to get a ticket right on that date. Is it true? Any advice?

Thanks,

I used ticket bus last year to reserve 4 seats and the reservation was in the system when I went to the bus station.I think you must purchase them within 2 hours of departure or something like that.

I don't understand the comment of your friend suggesting a Saturday-night bus towards Palenque from Merida would be busy. Maybe there's a local festival drawing lots of visitors to that route, but I haven't seen any mention of it. Though, on some routes where busses travel long distances (only a short part of which you'll be traveling), seats on some busses can fill for the overnight runs. But, I don't think you need worry about getting your bus ticket before arriving in Mexico.

Rather than book/reserve online I suggest you stop at Merida's bus station when you arrive in town and advance purchase the ticket then, or purchase the ticket at one of the following ticketbus offices/agents in Merida before the date of your departure:

Still doesnt hurt to book though, you dont pay until you show up

I agree, I often go ahead and book in advance and get my ticket later. You get a good choice of seats by doing that.
