For those that drive into/out of Mexico via Texas, La Azufrosa is a good stopping point for a night or 2 about an hour from either Saltillo and Monterrey. Nice place to break up a long trip. The hotel consists of the hot springs, a large indoor fresh water pool, a buffet restaurant area, and I think 5 buildings with 10 rooms each. Not far from the Grutas of Garcia either. The water is the hottest termal I've experienced in Mexico, I think they said some 42-44 degrees. In the pics, the 3 small…

My wife and I will be in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, in January, and would like to spend a couple of days in a Monarch refuge. Are the butterflies around Angangueo this year? What's a good wayi to find transportation to the refuges, spend a night or two, and then catch a bus to Mexico City? Any suggestions on how best to do this are greatly appreciated!

Hello,
Do most places in Puerto Escondido/Mazunte/Zipolite have mosquito nets over the beds including the cheap cabanas on the beach or should I bring my own. I am try to reduce the weight of my backpack.

In order for Ukrainians to visit Mexico they need to apply for an evisa, but apparently they are only able to fly in on certain airlines. Every official source I can find tells me to verify that my airline is participating...but I can't find a resource which lists the participating airlines. So, does anyone here know which airlines are?

How easy is it to change US currency in Mexico these days? It's been a few years since I was in the country and I just want to check whether it will be possible to change US dollars to pesos. Will be in Oaxaca. I know that they were tightening up currency situation and it was getting harder to find cambios last time I was there - wondering if it is now possible at all. I know I can use ATMs to get pesos but may have a few dollars with me as well.

Hi all,
I'm tentatively planning to go to Bacalar for a few days over Christmas this year and have a few questions.

  • Do you have any good (mid-range) lodging recommendations in Bacalar?

  • How long is a good amount of time to budget in Bacalar? Would it be preferable to have a car there or can you see the best sights without one?

  • I have a week and am wondering whether to combine it with another destination via a road trip from Cancun, or whether to just go straight to…
