Owing to time constraints we (couple early 60s) will probably go to one or other of Sian Ka'an or Calakmul. Deciding factors: how long would it take to drive from Merida to each one (possibly going via Campeche if we choose Calakmul)? How good is the WILDLIFE experience at Calakmul (we know about the ruins). Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi,
I will travel to Mexico this month and I would like to visti the ruins of Tonina. I would travel to Ocosingo from Comitan by public transport. I read the road from Comitan to Ocosingo is dangerous so it is best to avoid. Do you have any information about the security situation along the road from Comitan to Ocosingo? I know there are two route, Comitan to Ocosingo via San Cristobal and a direct road from Comitan to Ocosingo. Nowadays is there any public transport on any of the two roads? In…

In the past I have never felt the need to buy bus tickets ahead of time and have always been able to get seats on the next departing bus. But since we would be traveling with guests over the busy Día de Muertos period and since a city wide water shut off would be sending even more Mexico City dwellers out of town, I decided to be clever and book all our ADO tickets online in advance using Clickbus. Worked like a charm. UNTIL we showed up at Puebla's CAPU terminal for that final leg to MEX for…

Hello all-

Looking for advice for 9 days in the Yucatan (arrive Friday PM and depart Sunday PM) in early December. I am traveling with my adult daughter. This is my third time in the region: once in 1984 on honeymoon (ah, it was so unspoiled back then...), second time with family about 12 years ago. Every time we have based in Cancun or PDC area and gone to Chichen Itza with a few days in Merida. This time, we want to (mostly) avoid places that are too touristy (Cancun, PDC, Tulum, etc.)

So, the other night I was walking down Balderas in central Mexico City when I said to myself: ¨Heh, mclarjh, do you feel like a pick-me-up?¨ Sure, I said, why not, there´s an OXXO right across the street. So I got and paid for my favourite drink here, a Jimador-brand Paloma, which just means a premixed tequila and grapefruit drink in an aluminum can. I don´t know why they shelve it next to the beer, I consider it a light fruit drink. It cost 18 MXN. Out the door into the evening crowd. A couple…

After a brutal, ongoing campaign against its construction, the half-finished "new" airport under construction in CDMX has been abandoned.

Could make for an interesting tourist attraction at some point, but the situation is a bit awkward. Construction will actually continue until November 30th under the government, at which point it will just... stop.

Hi all! My boyfriend and I love Mexico (we've lived in Oaxaca and San Cristobal), and are hoping to have our wedding there.

What we're looking for:
- Small, walkable town where you'll know you're in Mexico
- Preferably a beach, just because that provides easy entertainment for kids (personally I don't care about the beach, so am open to anywhere with activities for families)
- A few good spots to eat
- Fairly easy access from the US (maybe an hour from a major airport?)

So far, Yelapa seems to…
