I've just returned from a twelve day romp through the region: Villahermosa > Palenque > Fr.Corozal > Ocosingo > San Cristobal > La.Montebelo > Tuxtla Gutierrez > Villahermosa
...Won't be posting any report or photos, but I will be happy to answer any questions from others on TT
Cheers!
Anyone have any experience shipping several hundred kilos of freight from Oaxaca to the US? California in particular. I need a shipping agent there to pack, do all the paperwork and ship via airfreight to northern California. After having done this elsewhere I know the necessity of having someone who can handle the whole procedure. Contact info would be greatly appreciated.
I need to make a trip to Oaxaca, down to Veracruz and back to home. What is the best way to get from Phoenix to either place? Is it better to fly into veracruz and bus up to Oaxaca or the other way; Oaxaca down to Veracruz?
Most of the flights I've seen go through Mexico City ... is that the only method?
1) Have heard - I think - that there is a collectivo or shuttle from Cancun airport direct to Tulum pueblo. Is this so? How long a trip and how much?
2) LP YUCATAN says that collectivos from Tulum pueblo to pUNTA Allen leave each day at 2pm. Can anybody verify this and again how much is it?
Thanks
Has anyone been to Real de catorce or the Zone of Silence in Mexico?
Like, where are they, how do you get there from GDL, Guadalajara, what is there to see and hear (get it, hear, zone of silence)? ha ah.
Tell me soon

I just talked to a friend who just returned from a car trip to Mexico. She told me that, in addition to paying for their vehicle permit, they were charged around 220 pesos for their FMT's. According to her story, this is something that just went into effect. I haven't driven to Mexico in a few years and this is the first I've heard of it. Any comments?

after a may 2006 trip to d.f. and oaxaca city, i am eager to return to the gorgeous country of mexico. my 30th birthday is coming up in june, so i am going to venture out solo this time. trouble is, i can't decide where to go. i live in austin, tx, so i think i'll take a bus down to the central northern areas. can anyone offer advice on their favorites? here's what i'm deciding between:
1. guadalajara
OR
2. guanajuato plus something on the side????
OR
3. morelia and patzcuaro
so…
I'm thinking fo flying in to Mexico City, staying a day or two, then taking the train or bus to Teouctan (sorry for the bad spelling) and Palenque - are they worth seeing??/ - then making my way to cancun for a few days break before heading home. I only have 14 days for the trip. Does this itinerary seem pretty decent? Would you recommend seeing something else or perhaps skipping one of my suggestions, and if so why? Are buses or trains better for this route?
Cheers, Susan.
Hi everybody.
I'm planning a short 4-5 day trip to Mexico in the early part of June. Where should I go? I was thinking Cancun.
I know the reputation Cancun has, of being a tourist trap and not the "real" Mexico.
However, what I want is a relaxing vacation where I can sleep on the beach and lower my stress level. The "authentic" Mexico can be for another trip. What I would like to do is rent a house. A trip to see Mayan cities is also something I am interested in. Is is possible to see…
Hey TTers - I just returned from a short trip to PV and I have to say that it was absolutely fantastic. The locals were quite possibly the friendliest people I've ever met, and the town itself was a pleasant mix of U.S.ers, Canadians, and Mexican toursists and locals. NY has got nothing on the nightlife in downtown PV - it was quite like Mardi Gras, with people out in the streets until dawn. The only time I felt slightly nervous was when we hopped on the blue bus at around midnight and ended up…
