Hello-
My husband and myself (early 60s) are traveling to the Baja for the first time on November 15th for 3 weeks. We have mostly traveled around mainland Mexico going to interior cities (Guadalajara, Puebla, Valladolid, Merida, Oaxaca, Colima and coastal ones (Melaque, San Agustinillo, Puerto Morelos, Isla Holbox). We mostly travel by bus, but rented a car last year for our Yucatan trip. Our interest are everything Mexican so we do a variety of things to take in the culture. Visit ruins…
Interesting detail on how TripAdvisor massages results to suit advertisers and "selected" users, backstory on how ratings relate to bookings - how reports of sexual assaults aren't "family friendly" ....

Apologies if this topic has already been covered. No disrespect towards Mexico - there are scumbags everywhere, sad to say...
Hi, I'll be heading to Oaxaca end of November/ Early December, do you think I would need to worry about booking hostels down in Zipolite/ Mazunte this early? Or do you think a few days in advance would be okay? Also while I'm asking in general backpacking through Oaxaca, Chiapas, and the Yucatan peninsula do you think like 3-4 days advance is enough for booking hostels? I just know December is high season and don't know how busy it will be.
Thanks a lot!!
Hi!!
I’m planning to backpack through Mexico & Guatemala over winter break, and I’m so stoked! Have bought flight tickets in to Mexico City and out of Cancun, now just have to figure out a tentative route across the region! I have some time so will use the local buses between towns, wherever possible. Also, I plan to stay in hostels, eat street food, and save money for the experiences - I like to travel solo but as a female south Asian grad student, just wanna make sure I’m also being safe!!

I am planning to go to Mexico in December. However I want to explore the cities of Mexico and visit the local cities and travel instead of being restricted to a resort in Cancun or Cabo etc.
I am wanting to visit Mexico for 7-10 days. I would l love to visit beaches, museums and would like see the every day to day local life. I don’t mind travelling in buses etc.
I need your suggestions in terms of what places I can cover the most in 7-10 days and how safe will they be for someone who doesn’t…
I've made it to Oaxaca in time for Dia de los Muertos. I was wondering about peoples experiences in joining a tour to visit the cemeteries on the 31st
or has anyone done this independently?
Hello,
I want to fly with Vivaaerobus from Mexico DF to Puerto Escondido sometime between Nov 25 and 27 (not sure yet).
Does anyone know if it is probable to get a flight 2 or 3 days before departure (as I will not be able to decide about my schedule earlier), or do you think I would have to book more in advance.
Thanks for any information
Jens
This made me laugh and I thought this group might enjoy it. Pulled from the latest issue of United's in-flight magazine:

Hi!
We are landing at 9pm, plan to sleep and then head early to the ruins before returning to the airport for a 4.15pm flight.
Questions
Is is safe to take a taxi/uber to a hotel near the ruins late at night?
is 3-4 hours enough for the ruins and can we get a taxi from the village to the ruins in the morning?
Is there anywhere to leave luggage at the ruins or at the airport?
How much is a guide, on site? Or any recommended guidebooks...preferably in English.
How long does the journey take from the…
Hello everyone
My partner and I arrive in Oaxaca for Dia los Muertos but only on Nov 1st at 11pm (airport). We don‘t want to lose much time and would just drop our bags in our hotel downtown and would then like to head out again. We will be staying until Nov 6. What activities would you recommend for Nov 1st after midnight and Nov 2nd all day/night? We are open to taking tours but also dont mind exploring on our own!
Any insights are appreciated - I already checked the schedule but it is hard…
