Myself and two children will be in arriving in cancun at 4:30pm and our flight out isn't until 12:30 that night. Is it worth getting transportation to a beach such as playa langosta? Are taxis available? Should we arrange a private shuttle?

We'll be in Puerto Escondido during Semana Santa this coming March -- my husband is a teacher and that's when his spring break is, so we have no choice of dates. His break is always during this week, so we have lots of experience being in Mexico and Central America during Semana Santa, and we're aware that it gets busy and crowded.

Knowing that there will likely be lots of bars and discos playing loud music until the wee hours, we're looking for a part of town that's reasonably quiet so we can…

It seems that because of increased violence in Cancun and area, with the murder rate doubling in just a year, hoteliers are very worried. Bookings for conventions are in decline with all the bad press and tourist advisories. Plans are afoot to bring in many more marines for patrolling. It is starting to look like Acapulco.

Hi all, I am thinking about booking an organised tour from San Cristobal to Palenque. I believe they go via Agua Azul and leave San Cristobal early in the morning. After visiting the ruins in Palenque I don't want to return to San Cristobal but take the night bus to Cancun. Has anyone ever done this?

For booking car rentals, I'm getting a vast difference for price quotes between USD and MXP
A $13,000MXN quotes shows up as $900USD (thats like ~30% diff compared to official exchange rate)
What gives? Should I just book under MXP?
When making final payment by CC, who determines the exchange rate? The vendor? Or the CC company?

I will be arriving in PV later this week and am planning on taking public transit from the airport to the Old Town (Zona Romantica). Does anyone know which bus to catch and how much the fare is. I did this a few years ago and remember where the bus stop is close to the airport, but not the bus name or the fare (which has probably changed anyway since I last did it).
