Er, maybe the title you used asking about "drunken adventure"...?
Personally of the two sites you mention, I prefer Cabo, but neither place is what I'd call "the Real Mexico". Yeah, I know some folks hate that expression. If I were visiting Mexico with my girlfriend, I'd want to go to a place that's rich with some history and culture: Guanajuato, Oaxaca, San Cristobal, etc. But that's me.

Hey barkeep ... how bout another one just like the other one. Noooo .. don't call me a cab!!

Matt-Good Job of jerking the old chains!
This place is dominated by shufflers-some of whom are worth listening to-most are not.

I'd suggest Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
Playa del Carmen is a bit more upmarket than Tulum, with better partying. Tulum is more chilled-out. If you're into the hippie thing, Tulum; if you're more into restaurants and bars, Playa del Carmen.
I don't know why everyone's jumping on this guy - maybe because he's not posturing enough?

You'd probably enjoy Puerto Escondido too. There are fun bars there, lots of people for a party, and decent budget accomodations.

Good call on PE!
Somewhat rough around the edges after dark but @ age 22 it hardly matters.

PE is closer to Mexico City than Quintano Roo, which means a lot more mixed crowd to party with too.

Party till you puke was an expression used on college campuses in my area a few years ago. It signified drinking and having a good time, although with binge drinking overtones. You actually got the advice you were looking for in this thread despite making some remarks that might have offended some of the regular posters.
