Ok were not as bad as I made it out to be. But we are two canadians flying from BC sometime at the end of april/begin of may. We want to go somewhere that is going to be romantic without being surrounded by gray hairs. At the same time we don't necesarly want to be stuck with a bunch 18 year olds. Am I asking to much? The places I have narrowed down are Cabos, and Cancun. Although I can't seem to find a place thats in my budget for cancun. Is it that big of a deal staying out of town at the mayan riveria?? is their somewhat of a aprty scene there? Can we find bars and clubs in Cabos? Is the ocean great for swimming in both places? Am I doing more harm than good by checking reviews on every hotel I come across on tripadvisor.com?

You'd probably love Playa del Carmen, which is in the centre of the Mayan Riviera. It's about 1/2 hour from the Cancun airport - easy to find ADO bus is 80p on the far right side of the airport as you exit. Lots of dance clubs and bars, great beaches/beach clubs, and you can find pretty reasonable accommodations.
If you'd like more info, check out playa.info - it's a website run by locals and has tons of good info. See the tabs at the top of each page for tours, beaches, cenotes, nearby attractions, the hotels they recommend, reviews etc. etc.

For someone not wanting to be around 18 year olds surpises me since you want to get drunk to have fun. Is this not the same for an 18 year old? If you do get blasted out of your mind on alcohol, be very careful as many eyes will be watching you to see if you are suitable to be robbed? Have a wonderful time but be careful. Edmund
I agree with Peche, I think you'd probably love Playa del Carmen too. Compared to Cancun, it's low-key, yet there's still plenty of places to have a drink or party.
Yeah real romantic places you have narrowed it down to. Romantic, but party it up without a lot of gray hairs. Maybe Puerto Vallarta is your best bet for that and probably a bit cheaper for you as well.
