My girlfriend and I are considering spending several days in DF with our 9 lb dog.

Finding it difficult to navigate the metro website with my limited spanish to determine if dogs are allowed on the metro? If so do they need to be in a carrier? If they are not allowed is this strictly enforced?

Are dogs allowed in restaurant's outdoor dining areas?

Thanks.

Sadly, only guide dogs on the metro/metrobus. However, there are other options, including "Cabify Pet."

On the other hand, an amazing number of restaurants do allow dogs (many letting them right in with you... you have to check on each one). Dogs, especially small ones, are incredibly popular in the city and you'll find lots of things that make life easier for them. The metro would probably just be a bit too much of a s**tshow with lots of dogs down there, so the rule is kind of understandable

It's very common to see pet dogs on outdoor patios, especially in neighbourhoods like Roma and Condesa. You'll feel right at home there.

I´ve never seen a dog in the Metro, nor MetroBus. Not even hidden under someone´s jacket.

PS: DF is now CDMX.

I would think that crowded metro cars are not a place where a dog, large or small, would be allowed, for the sake of public safety and the comfort of the critter.

Buses/metro no. Restaurants, especially outdoors mostly ok.

It would be cruel to travel to the city with a dog, IMO.

Yes we have five dogs at the house in Cancun Centro and when we hit the road we leave them all home. They range from one large to four small.
