What is the US side of the Tecate border crossing like? We are currently in Mexico driving a Kia Spectra. Have been reading that the roads might be rough in the US and we're wondering if the Kia will be okay. Thanks!

I have no personal experience, but using Google Maps street-view application I just looked at highway 188 north of Tecate and the highway appeared to be in very good condition.

Crossing into the US from Tecate puts you on a rural two-lane highway. There are some winding sections, slow going through commercial areas, but certainly is paved, and a regular sedan can handle it with no problem whatsoever.
