Hi guys

I’m looking to go to a Spanish school for about 3 weeks at the beginning of my trip in Mexico, I’m beginner level.

Any suggestions on good schools would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally I don’t want to be somewhere too touristy as I know I’ll revert to English but equally don’t want to be completely isolated either!

If I could be near a beach that would be ideal but not essential.

I’m heading to meet a friend beginning of February in Tulum and going south.

Not time limited after meeting with her for 3 weeks so may well head back to check out more of Mexico!

Thanks for your advice!
Anna

There are many archived prior discussions on this branch in which questions about language schools are exhaustively responded to. The search feature at the top of the page will lead you to them.

You might consider the Oasis Spanish and Surf School in Puerto Escondido.

Spanish schools rely on foreigners for their clientele, so expect tourists to be around. My suggestion is to pick a city you like, and then look for a school in that place.

I'd suggest Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca state too. Unfortunately it's hard to find a beach town in Mexico where the people working in the service industry don't speak English.

I'll offer up the suggestion of Merida. Frequent buses to the beach (40 mins from downtown) and 4 hours from Tulum. A beautiful, historic city with a lot of sites and activities in the region to keep you busy. A mix of locals, tourists, and ex-pats. However, outside the center you'll hear very little English. There are a number of Spanish schools though I have no personal experiences to share.
