I have been meaning to post for a while...it was a long shot a few months ago even so not sure if anyone can help now.
I was travelling through Chiapas in October and this one song was playing everywhere...shops, radios, buses. It was insanely popular and now I sort of associate it with my time there.
I asked someone for the name of the song but they gave me a different band. when I got home I realized that I don't have the correct band name!
It is one of the sorta accordian sounding types of songs, with the bands with 3-10 guys with the cowboy hats. I am pretty sure the video for this song has 3 guys in it, and they are playing an outdoor concert with lots of girls freaking out and being very happy to be there etc. The tune is very simple, with sort of a na-na-na kinda beat. I thought about trying to hum it and putting it up on you-tube, but that is a sorta last resort cause my humming is terrible.
If anyone knows of a band even with a hit song of that sort of music near the end of '06, that would be great. If I can't find the song, I will just download a similar song and make do.
any thoughts would be great!
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? I always associate certain songs with certain trips! I shoulda woulda bought the CD there when I was there, but hindsight...
thanks!

maybe it was Maná's "Como Yo Te Deseo." That definitely has a "na-na-na-na" beat and I heard it on the radio all the time in Los Angeles around Christmas time. Or possibly something else from Maná. Let me know if that was it because now I'm very curious. Good luck!

No accordians or cowboy hats in Mana videos. What was the band name that they gave you? I know you said it's wrong, but it might give a clue.
I know for certain that a post, almost exactly like this one, was posted a few months ago. Not to be rude, but how could we possibly know what song it was you heard, if we weren't there with you?

I was thinking it was Banda Recodo, but there are like 57 of them in the videos, not three.

If the beat was more like a ba-da-bum, ba-da-bum, with accordion, it's probably a cumbia. I haven't been down to Mexico in a few years so I don't know what's playing there now, but try to download some cumbia, you'll probably like it. One I particularly like is "Cumbia Sobre El Rio", by Celso Piña. It's about 5 years old, I think.

sounds like al on married with children," ba ba hmmm." actually it sounds more like banda than cumbia. there are few things more enjoyable than a vague question requiring a specific answer. could this be the post of the week? edward

Mana sounds like Sting,in Spanish.I like them, but they can get a little redundant.Their live album is a good sampler of their music.

I've gotten a very good laugh at your responses. I'm still chuckling.
I was very curious to know if anyone had gotten the song. I know what she means though. I heard a song in Turkey on a yacht cruise that was sort of mellow but had a nice male singing voice. It may or may not have been Turkish. Does anyone have any idea who this could have been? It was about a year and a half ago.
