I don't know if it's possible to take a tour to the butterfly sanctuaries from Pátzcuaro, but it would add more travel time to an already very long day. Pátzcuaro is not near the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries. Morelia is only about 45 minutes to an hour closer.
