Interesting stuff in yesterday's NYTimes... should be quite the complex if it ever gets built.

It'll actually be just down the road from the current one, and is "supposed" to start handling passengers in 2020 (which sounds optimistic).

The new airport was announced years ago. This article seems to be about its environmental effects. I see a construction site northeast of the current airport on Google Maps.

For some reason I thought the project was in limbo... I guess it's the area directly to the east-northeast that looks torn up on GM? In that case it'll practically be an extension of the current one. That thing called Cola de Pato doesn't look so hot.

The newly dug up area doesn´t look any longer than the current airport, but it´s wider, so I guess they´ll have four (4) parallel runways rather than the current two (2), for extra capacity. Anyone taking a trip to Texcoco would be able to verify the construction; I haven´t been there in at least a couple of years. I wonder if the Metro line will be extended (doubt that very much) or at least the MetroBus line (doable), otherwise travelers will be at the mercy of the taxi union to get there and back.

Construction of the Berlin Brandenburg international airport began in the year 2006 and the project was planned to complete in October 2011. The project remains unfinished as of November 2017. The current "official" estimate for the inauguration day is October 2019. However, few people believe that the airport will be in operation before the year 2020. The erection of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona began in 1880's. Perhaps, in some day, cranes around the church will vanish.

And the government of the state of Oaxaca recently announced that they would restart construction of the supercarretera to the coast. I don´t know how many years overdue it is already.
