I have a further question about Punta Laguna and Coba area. As we have a hired car would it be advisable to drive from Merida to PuntaLaguna, it's 2.5 hours to drive, and get a guide once we arrive? Are there official guides. We don't mind joining a small group just want to make our own way.
Thanks

That´s a long two and a half hrs, each way, in my opinion. It would be a lot easier to base yourself in Valladolid for this daytrip. If you´re asking about Coba, I´m sure you can find a guide at the entrance.

Would anyone know or have suggestions. We arrive in Merida late December 23rd. Should we expect everything will be closed Christmas day? Restaurants, supermarkets etc.? Any suggestion what we could do on the 25th?
Day adoptions accepted :)

FYI, each neighbourhood ("colonia") in Merida has its own numbering systems. Hence, there are many Calle 14's. If trying to locate your accommodation, you'll need to know the name of the colonia. Also, the house numbers vary so it is important to specify the cross streets. So a typical address reads as follows: Calle 14 #156 x 21 y 23, Col. Mexico, where the "x" stands for "between," the "y" means "and," the colonia is specified. (I don't know if the above is a real address).

In my experience, many businesses don´t open until later in the day on 25 Dec and 1 Jan. The archaeological sites and nature reserves should still be open.

That's now clear. I do have the cross Street of our accommodation. Many thanks
