I'm planning to stay in Tulum for 4 days just to get to know the around, like cenotes, Xel-ha, Tulum ruins and swim in a nice clean beach.

I don't know where to stay because I learn that the beaches are far from Tulum town and the cabanas close to the beaches are rustic, no electricity, ect.

So what do you suggest.

Thanks, Tomas.

Tulum hotel Zone beaches are mostly beatiful. Look at my website wolfcalls.com. some cheap places are rustic and some are lovely see the website Ana y joses.com. Rent a car so you have freedom to leave the beach see ogther arteas and eat in Tulum Pueblo where the food is good. Place get very buggy when sun goes down to prepare by having your own skeeter net.

You can rent bicycles in town, too.

Tulum is a good place for vacationing if your main activities are going to be focused on the beach. There beaches are beautiful, but there's not much else to see or do apart from the beach. Personally, I can only take only so much beachcombing and "roughing it" when I'm on vacation so I prefer Playa del Carmen to Tulum. There are many comfortable, inexpensive hotels in PDC. It's a lot more lively and the beaches are equally as good.

Isn't Playa del Carmen always crowded?

Crowded is a relative term. I've never seen Playa del Carmen's beaches so crowded that it affected my enjoyment of the beach one bit. Tulum's beaches aren't exactly deserted, either.

Bartleby is just so right. I can only do about three days in Tulum Hotel Zone and then I miss Playa del Carmen. When I do go to Tulum it is in September - low season and no one there. I go just to wander alone and enjoy the sea, sand and sky with all the big puffy clouds you get at the end of summer. Then I got to get to Playa and hang out with my Mayan friends, hit all the local night spots and enjoy an evening of Andean Folk Music. Getting good food cheap is a Playa plus too.

Ganja in Tulum:

What's the story. Will be in Tulum soon. Suggestions on securing quality Ganja discreetly and safely?

Story is local police will arrange for someone to sell it to you and then bust you. First three days in Mexican jail they dont feed you up to your family to bring you the food. Bring ALOT of money.
