Hi there,

we are wondering if they have such a show in Teotihuacán - and, if yes, is it worth money and time? Can't find any information in our guide books or on the net. Last year we saw the sound & lightshow in Uxmal and found it poor and disney-like. And it was only in Spanish.
If there is a show in Teotihuacán, we would also appreciate to receive information about schedules and ticket prices.

Thx!

I see Ticketmaster is selling tickets to a daily event at 7 PM at Teotihuacan called Nocturna. Sounds like a sound and light show to me. I wouldn´t go.

There indeed is... can't say re: the time/money ratio but it sounds like it could be neat. Maybe some Mexican herbal medicine would help make it go down easier.

Interestingly, Pino Suarez just reopened a few weeks ago after extensive renovations... the iconic pedestal is now restored to its former "glory," i.e. coated in a white, um, pre-Hispanic glaze. It actually looks pretty sweet, and there's a light show that they do on it... well, I dunno, I saw it the first day it opened, and there was a sign saying every day at 7 and 9 p.m., but now that sign has been artfully covered by a taped-on TV box or something and I haven't seen the light show since. It was a touching tribute to Ehécatl with rain and wind effects and trippy graphics. All of Pino plaza has actually been renovated, and it's sort of nice, but still a tad sketchy... the glue-sniffing colony with the huge couch is still in place, but it just features a lot better lighting.

I drove around the pyramids at night a few weeks ago while the show was going on. It looked pretty cheesy. Tickets are $471 mxn.

I asked the touts next to the cathedral last night about the sound and light show. The guy from Turibus says the cost including transport, a human guide, an audioguide (English), and dinner is 1650 MXN; departs at 5 PM, returns at midnight; several evenings per week. Another operator with no brand name was selling tickets for 1500 MXN.

The new museo (70 MXN) at the Templo Mayor is now open. Instead of being housed in the heritage building at the south side of the Templo Mayor, it´s now underground (or at least under the new pavement) at the southwest corner. There are also ruins visible from street level glass on Rep de Argentina (free), and more ruins visible underground at the museo (free) in CCEMx on Guatemala just west of Templo Mayor.

For interest: I read a couple of days ago in maspormas about ¨Color Fest¨ at Teotihuacan, but it´s not what you´d think. Ít´s about partygoers throwing coloured powder at each other (an adaptation from an Indian festival) while enjoying food trucks and local DJs. As much fun as it sounds, I think I´ll give it a miss, but if anyone else goes, give us a trip report.

Thx all, we decided to skip it.
