i arrived with my wife here in town mid afternoon on april 1. the town was full of mexican tourists enjoying themselves. being palm sunday, there were lot of vendors selling palm leaves weaved into crosses, flowers, crucifix etc in front of templo san francisco. we just walked around, taking in the sight and sound of this city we loved and have visited repeatedly.
we stay at home b and b, run by shelley, a canadian, just a few long blocks from the main plaza zenea. it is a homey place, modest and very comfortable, with nice view of skyline from the roof. she cooks a mean breakfast, and at P350 for two in a nice room, with bath, it is truly a great value.
today we took off for san luis potosi, another of our favorite town. it seems that SLP has more programs for semana santa than queretaro. however, we did that last year already. it looks like they are done with fixing up the centro and the various churches there. the catedral metropolitan is just smashing, with gold applique everywhere. at the governor place and the palacio municipal, they have set up altars to sorrowful mother, both altars are just breathtaking.
we went there by primera plus bus. on the way back, we took ETN. we are very disappointed at this supposedly luxury line. at least the bus that we took is really run down, on the dirty side, with tears in seat and curtains. i have been on segunda class bus on par with this one. a couple next to us moved 3 times to find seats that will recline.
tomorrow, we go to bernal., our second trip there. after reading and looking at larpmans gallery, we can hardly wai to experience the city anew.

Nice report. That Jardin Zenea is really a beauty, isn't it?
That is a shocking comment about ETN! I've had nothing but good experience with them. Did you slip something into the "complaints and suggestions" box?
I'm looking forward to your comments about Bernal.
Four or five years ago, on a trip to Michoacan, I realized that I was once again in an area of the country served by ETN. I was travelling with another person, & absolutely clamored to take ETN, assuring my companion that it was well worth the extra money. Hah! They've gone really downhill, and the bus & service were a disgrace. Never again.
Koaeng, thanks so much for the great report -- truly enjoyed reading it.
