In August we'll be travelling from nort to south of Mexico by car. The longest jump is from Palenque to Campeche (200 miles or 356 Km). In many posts I read that on some internal roads it takes up to 5 hours to cover 200KM !!!
In your experience, how many hours will it take us to travel that way ?

Thanks Tom from Italy

aprox. 7 hours, it's much nicer the way over Ciudad del Carmen, Villahermosa (which is not so Hermosa, but the olmec park is worth a visit) or just skip the city and go on to Palenque. You find hotels all along the way, nice little mexican town is Frontera. enjoy mexico

Depends on how you drive, of course, but pretty good roads all the way, including a libre between Campeche and Champoton (as of 2 years ago). I left Palenque about 7, had an excellent shore lunch at Champoton, wasted 2 hours on a "shortcut" through a sugarcane field, spent an hour at Uxmal, and still got to Ticul before dark.

Watch out for speed traps; the city is well-known for them.
